Giving back always takes on a more festive form during the holidays, and our team members pushed their sleeves up to dig in and help others have a happy holiday. From gift drives and “Breakfast with Santa” to ringing the Salvation Army bells, Team Toyota gave back in a big way to those in need. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who helped make a difference.
Were you part of a holiday community service project outside of Toyota? Don’t forget to log your hours in the Toyota4Good portal, and stay tuned for all the ways you can give back with Toyota4Good in the New Year.
Here is a snapshot of how just a few of our offices lent a hand:
Livonia, Michigan DSSO and TMNA Research & Development – Saline, Michigan
Several Toyota businesses in Michigan came together to collect toys for The Marines Toys for Tots in Washtenaw County – the second largest toy collection in the state of Michigan. Team members from TMNA Research & Development, the local TFS DSSO, Toyota Veterans Association (TVA) Michigan, and Dunning Toyota, a local dealership in Ann Arbor, donated 575 toys. Fun fact: Dunning Toyota has been the largest toy drop-off location for this program for more than 15 years.
Chicago DSSO and Central Region Office
Team members from the Chicago DSSO and the Central Region Office combined forces to make the season bright in the greater Chicago area by providing $900 worth of toys to Restoration Ministries’ annual toy store. Additionally, the two offices presented Restoration Ministries with a $3,000 check from its Making Holidays Easier for YOUth campaign.
Separately, holiday carolers from the Boys & Girls Club of Elgin performed for the Chicago DSSO, enjoyed hot chocolate and snacks, and explored their imaginations and drawing skills during a Toyota Dream Car event.
Team members from the CSC West in Chandler, Arizona participated in a Holiday Shopping Spree with 36 kids from the Boys & Girls Club of the East Valley, Guadalupe Branch! Each child received a $200 Target gift card and partnered with a mentor to shop.
Headquarters – Plano, Texas
Team members at our Plano headquarters put on a Holiday Gift drive to benefit four local partners: Boys & Girls Club of Collin County, Children’s Health – Plano, Community Partners of Dallas and Hope’s Door.
Every wish was granted, and more than 1,000 gifts were collected. A local Toyota Tacoma and Tundra club came out to help load the gifts and deliver them to each of the non-profits.
Toyota Motor Manufacturing Mississippi (TMMMS)
TMMMS team members partnered with the Tupelo Salvation Army to donate nearly 2,800 gifts and gave $15,000 to help them make up for a donation loss they were facing.
Also in Tupelo, the Mississippi Young Professionals (MYP) Business Partner Group at TMMMS had team members ringing the Salvation Army bell at their local Walmart every day for two weeks. Thirty team members volunteered their time and helped ease the shortage of bell ringers their local Salvation Army experienced.
Toyota Motor Manufacturing West Virginia (TMMWV)
Team members at the TMMWV plant adopted 100 “angels” from the Salvation Army of Maryland and West Virginia. Trees with gift tags were set up in the cafeteria so team members could select their angel and bring their gift.
Toyota Bodine Aluminum – Troy, Missouri
Twelve team members (plus some of their family members) at the Toyota Bodine Aluminum plant in Troy volunteered as bell ringers for the Salvation Army and collected more than $340. Additionally, Toyota Bodine Troy made their list and checked it twice for their “Adopt a Family” project to support three military families and six foster children. They were able to fulfill every gift wish, plus extras like clothing and household items.
